Sometimes through the experience of our own insignificance we not only learn humility, but also discover the freedom to actually be, do and become so much greater than we ever imagined.⁣

Photography can be a wonderful friend and a teacher, as when everything slows down and things get quiet in our head, while we are holding our breath hunting for that special moment with our camera, not a single thought makes a peep and we can finally really 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 see into the astonishing beauty and boundless potential around us - and through it we are suddenly aware of the very same in ourselves.⁣

With his clever use of perspective Matt is not only giving us a breathtaking sense of scale of a tiny human amongst the enormous trees. ⁣

Notice how by looking up in this self portrait he deepens the sense of expansion and greatness in not only what’s in front of us, but also in what only he is seeing up above. The image seems to continue way beyond the frame and we can’t help but join in the awe.⁣
