We can talk about rules and strategies and master all the theory there is, but it might still not be enough - in either photography or life itself.

This thought is somehow both depressing and a relief. So what do we do? Just go out into the world and do our best.

But when you sit down for a moment of quiet reflection and carefully examine your loot, you might be surprised at how much you captured, often so much more than you had hoped!

Gustav created an ode to a puddle, a tiny little thing, occupying almost no space in the image, yet I can’t stop staring at it - it has me completely transfixed! My eyes are jumping from the little tree in the fog to the puddle, and back again - it’s like they are talking to each other through us, the viewer.

Although Gustav has a natural talent and a great eye, I have a feeling he was unaware of their subtle connection intellectually while taking this picture. But it doesn’t matter as he got it anyway, perhaps even without realising what exactly would make this humble image work so well.

Another beautiful subtle reminder of how we often don’t realise what we are creating in the world, and what a positive impact we might be having on others.
